Ed Reardon, CJF

Ed graduated from The Bob Gerkin Horseshoeing School on the campus of Rice University in Houston, TX, in 1970. He is a Certified Journeyman Farrier and Member #252 of American Farriers Association (AFA). He has served on the Board of Directors for AFA. He is a member of Missouri Farriers Association (MoFA), Kansas Farriers Association (KFA), and Iowa Professional Farriers Association. He has served as Secretary-Treasurer for both KFA and MoFA. He is the current president of Missouri Farriers Association.

Continuing education is an important part of Ed’s professional life. In addition to MoFA’s bi-monthly clinics and the annual AFA conventions, Ed has attended:

• Dr. Doug Butler’s Master Farrier Program

• Frank Turley’s Blacksmithing School

• Jim Keith’s Farrier and Forging School

• Dr. Redden’s annual Bluegrass Laminitis Symposiums

Ed has been a horse owner since he was 10 years old. He showed in halter, pleasure, reining, cutting, and roping events. He was a judge for open horse shows for 15 years.

Ed feels that horseshoeing is at the heart of a horse’s soundness and can determine the usefulness of the animal. Through his knowledge of anatomy and mechanical devices, he is able to cooperate with veterinarians to seek therapeutic solutions. He especially enjoys his collaboration with Dr. Keith Wagner at Equine Health Solutions. The welfare of the horse is always his primary concern. Developing friendships with his clients is also an important part of his business.

Ed enjoys spending time with family and friends. He loves to travel – especially to Colorado and Italy. He enjoys reading and riding a bike whenever time permits.
