Keith L Wagner DVM
Dr Wagner was raised on a farm in west central Missouri and grew up riding and caring for horses. He developed a natural ability for horsemanship and competed on the local, regional, and national level in performance events including team roping and cattle cutting. It was through these experiences that Keith recognized the importance of the proper care of his horses and the need for a strong foundation from which the horse could reach their athletic potential.
Dr Wagner attended the University of Missouri – Columbia. In 1989 he graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine with Honors. After graduation he worked under the direction of William Riddle Jr VMD DACVS. In 1996 Dr Wagner was employed by Dr Weaver of Green Summit Animal Clinic in Lee’s Summit, MO. In 2000 Dr Wagner purchased the equine portion of Green Summit Animal Clinic and changed the name to Equine Health Solutions.
Dr Wagner is involved in organized Veterinary Medicine. He is a member of the Missouri Veterinary Medical Association (MVMA), the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), and the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP). He has served the AAEP on the Owner Education Committee and the Veterinary/Farrier Relationship Committee.
Education is an integral part of Dr Wagner’s life. Both client and personal education is an ongoing process. Dr Wagner believes if the client is better educated they can make informed decisions about their horse’s health care. A well informed client will provide better care for their horse resulting in a more productive animal. Dr Wagner enjoys providing educational seminars for horse owners. An annual educational seminar in February and the on-going “Hoof Evaluation and Care” seminars are good examples. Dr Wagner also helps educate future veterinarians. He travels across the nation conducting the AAEP/AFA Farrier Short Course. He provides externships for veterinary and veterinary technicians students at Equine Health Solutions as part of their educational process. Dr Wagner helps the Cass County 4-H by volunteering to lead the Veterinary Science program.
Dr Wagner is married to Joyce and has two children, Erin and Nathan. The practice is a family business and you can see them at the clinic occasionally. Dr Wagner enjoys the outdoors and gardening for relaxation.
