Keith L Wagner DVM

Dr Keith L Wagner was raised on a farm in west central Missouri and grew up riding and caring for horses.  He developed a natural ability for horsemanship and competed on the local, regional, and national level in performance events including team roping and cattle cutting. It was through these experiences that Keith recognized the importance of the proper care of his horses and the need for a strong foundation from which the horse could reach their athletic potential.

Dr Wagner attended the University of MissouriColumbia.  In 1989 he graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine with Honors.  After graduation he worked under the direction of William Riddle Jr VMD DACVS in Maryland.  Coming back to the Kansas City, MO area, he was employed by Dr Raymond Crain at Crain Veterinary Clinic to establish an equine practice.  Change in Crain Veterinary philosophy in 1992, directed him to be employed at Countryside Animal Clinic in Aurora, MO.  A desire to get his family closer to their roots, Dr Wagner accepted employment in 1996 with Dr Dennis Weaver of Green Summit Animal Clinic in Lee’s Summit, MO.  In 2000 Dr Wagner purchased the equine portion of Green Summit Animal Clinic and changed the name to Equine Health Solutions.  Equine Health Solutions is an equine practice located in Raymore, MO.  In 2009 he graduated from Options for Animals College of Animal Chiropractic and is certified in Veterinary Chiropractic by the International Veterinary Chiropractic Association and the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association.  In December 2010 he graduated from the Chi Institute of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine with emphasis in equine acupuncture.

Dr Wagner is involved in organized Veterinary Medicine.  He is a member of the Missouri Veterinary Medical Association (MVMA), the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP), and the American Association of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (AATCVM).  He has served the AAEP on the Owner Education Committee and the Veterinary/Farrier Relationship Committee.

Education is an integral part of Dr Wagner’s life. Both client and personal education is an ongoing process.  Dr Wagner believes if the client is better educated they can make informed decisions about their horse’s health care.  A well informed client will provide better care for their horse resulting in a more productive animal.  Dr Wagner enjoys providing educational seminars for horse owners.  An annual educational seminar in February and the “Hoof Evaluation and Care” seminars are examples.  Dr Wagner has helped educate future veterinarians.  He has traveled across the nation conducting the AAEP/AFA Farrier Short Course and lecturing on veterinary chiropractic care.  He provides externships for veterinary and veterinary technicians students at Equine Health Solutions as part of their educational process.  Dr Wagner helps the Cass County 4-H by volunteering to lead the Veterinary Science program.  He has helped the with the LEAP program for the Ray-Pec School District.

Dr Wagner is married and has two children.  The practice is a family business and you can see them at the clinic occasionally.  Dr Wagner enjoys the outdoors and gardening for relaxation.
